Our hearts are broken but so full of love & gratitude for having been honored to have this Big Spirit in our lives for 8 years. From the beginning we knew he was a “once in a lifetime character” and would live up to his name.
Samson “Sammy” Ayres — a most handsome-interesting to look at, big-presence with a brave heart and an eye for adventure — passed suddenly and unexpectedly on May 23, 2026. He filled every room with his gentle strength, steadfast loyalty, and an unmistakable flair for adventures.
Sammy was a noble watcher, a good finder of deer horns, turtle shells and fish bones. He was a brave protector: fearless when facing coyotes and anything else that threatened his pack, yet unimpressed by the vet’s office, wary of itchy bugs, bee bugs, and snakes. He loved off-road hikes, rides around town, “good grass” in Spring and “couch time” with his family. His joy for “happy bones” and the small pleasures of life was contagious.
He is survived by his adored “sissy boom-Juhl,” his devoted fur-mom Kim — the very reason for his being — and his brave, monster-fighting buddy Jim. Sammy’s fierce loyalty, goofy bravery, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Forever a gentle giant, forever loved. And now a Lead Warrior-Guardian with our growing pack at Rainbow Bridge.
Good Sam We Will See You Soon
